On 7 November 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Chatchai Kalyanapanon, Acting Director of Walailak Botanic Park, Walailak University, led a delegation to visit Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, Botanical Garden Organization (BGO) in Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province. The visit aimed to strengthen institutional collaboration and follow up on a joint research project on orchid diversity in Khao Luang National Park.
During the visit, the delegation learned about plant cultivation, conservation, and greenhouse management, including controlled-temperature and humidity systems, plant nurseries, and research facilities for plant genetic conservation. The team also exchanged technical knowledge on the care and management of specialized plant collections to support future conservation and research at Walailak Botanic Park.
The delegation also met representatives from the Forest Herbarium, Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, creating further opportunities for academic collaboration in plant taxonomy, biodiversity surveys, conservation research, and sustainable management of native plant resources. The visit marks another important step in advancing botanical research and strengthening conservation networks for Thailand’s plant diversity.
