16–19 December 2025, the RSPG Coordination Center, Walailak University organized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between Walailak University, educational institutions, and local administrative organizations. The MOUs aim to provide financial and academic support for the implementation of the School Botanic Garden and Local Resource Base programs. The ceremony was held at Phattharathamaporn Conference Room, Building B, 9th Floor, Walailak University Medical Center Hospital, with representatives from participating schools and local administrative organizations in attendance.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Suwit Wuthisuthimethi, Vice President for Strategic Planning and Good Governance of Walailak University, in his capacity as Director of the RSPG Coordination Center, Walailak University, who signed the agreements on behalf of the University. He was joined by Associate Professor Dr. Chatchai Kalyanapaphon, Acting Director of the Botanic Park and Deputy Director of the RSPG Coordination Center, and Assistant Professor Dr. Phairoj Nuannum, Acting Deputy Director of the Botanic Park, who attended as witnesses and honored the ceremony.
The event was further honored by the presence of Mr. Morakot Watcharamusik, Head of Operations (Level 8), Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Chitralada Palace, who participated as a witness. His attendance underscored the close cooperation between the RSPG Coordination Center at Walailak University and the central administration of the Royal Initiative.

Satit Tessaban Wat Phetcharik School
Ban Nakhian School
Phanom Bencha School
Thairath Wittaya 97 (Ban Bang Bon) School
Tessaban Wat Chai Chumphon School
In addition, three local administrative organizations joined the agreements:
Koh Yao Yai Subdistrict Municipality
Pru Nai Subdistrict Municipality
Thung Song Town Municipality
The objectives of the MOUs are to strengthen and enhance the capacity of participating schools and local administrative organizations to effectively implement the School Botanic Garden and Local Resource Base programs. The cooperation focuses on the survey, collection, conservation, and sustainable utilization of plant genetic resources and local resources, as well as preparing participating institutions for evaluation to receive the Royal Initiative Signboard and Certificates of Achievement Levels 1, 2, and 3 in the 2026 fiscal year.
This MOU signing ceremony reflects Walailak University’s role as a regional academic hub, working closely with schools and local administrative organizations to translate the Royal Initiative on plant genetic conservation into tangible outcomes at the community level. The collaboration contributes to sustainable development in terms of environmental conservation, preservation of local wisdom, and long-term learning opportunities for youth and communities.
