The certification marks another important milestone in the development of Walailak Botanic Park as both a recreational tourism destination and a nature-based learning centre. It reflects the Park’s commitment to quality management, site maintenance, visitor services, safety, and meaningful visitor experiences, alongside its continuing mission to conserve natural resources and biodiversity.
The three certified areas offer different forms of learning and recreation. The Bota Sky Tower provides visitors with panoramic views of the Botanic Park and its surrounding landscape, while the Nature Trail offers opportunities to explore local environments and natural resources through direct observation and outdoor learning. The Wildlife Breeding Station enables visitors to learn about wildlife, biodiversity, and the importance of species conservation.
Meeting the requirements of the recreational tourism quality standard also strengthens the Park’s role in supporting outdoor and experiential learning. Students, university learners, researchers, families, tourists, and members of the public can use the certified areas for recreation, environmental education, nature study, and hands-on learning outside the classroom.
The certification also contributes to broader efforts to enhance the quality of tourism attractions in Nakhon Si Thammarat and southern Thailand. Walailak Botanic Park continues to improve its services and knowledge communication to better accommodate both Thai and international visitors, while appropriately integrating recreation with environmental education and natural resource conservation.
Beyond the three certified areas, Walailak Botanic Park offers a wide range of learning facilities and visitor services. These include the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum (SIRIN MUSEUM), science camps and academic outreach activities, the RSPG–Walailak University Coordinating Center, accommodation and event spaces, as well as recreational activities such as electric tram tours, cycling, kayaking, and camping.
These services reflect the Park’s guiding concept:
“Walailak Botanic Park, Land of Knowledge and Happiness for All.”
The Park aims to develop an integrated destination where nature, science, conservation, learning, and recreation come together. Environmental responsibility is also promoted through measures such as reducing the use of plastic carrier bags and encouraging visitors to separate waste before disposal.
Walailak Botanic Park will use the “Very Good” certification as a foundation for the continuous improvement of its management systems, visitor services, learning experiences, and environmental practices. The goal is to provide visitors with high-quality and meaningful experiences while further developing the Park as a recognised destination for nature-based learning and recreation at both national and international levels.
