Briefs FY2026 Research and Academic Service Policies to Strengthen Integrated Resource Conservation

The Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn – Walailak University Coordination Center (RSPG–WU) organized a policy briefing for Fiscal Year 2026 research and academic service projects to ensure that project leaders and grant recipients have a clear understanding of the operational framework, reporting procedures, monitoring requirements, and expected outcomes for the year.

The meeting was led by Associate Professor Dr. Suwit Wuthisuthimethavee, Vice President of Walailak University and Director of the RSPG–Walailak University Coordination Center, who outlined the key policies and directions for research and academic service activities in FY2026.

His briefing emphasized Walailak University’s role as a participating institution in the Royal Initiative and the importance of ensuring that funded projects contribute meaningfully to the conservation, study, restoration, and sustainable use of Thailand’s plant genetic resources and related local resources.

Also joining the policy discussion were Associate Professor Dr. Chatchai Kalyanapanon, Acting Director of Walailak Botanic Park and Deputy Director of the RSPG–WU Coordination Center, and Associate Professor Dr. Pairoj Nuannum, Acting Deputy Director of Walailak Botanic Park.

The discussion focused on project supervision, progress monitoring, and the need to strengthen the integration of research activities with the School Botanical Garden Program and Local Resource Database operations. This approach is intended to ensure that research outputs can be connected more directly with schools, local organizations, communities, and resource-based learning activities.

Following the policy briefing, participants attended a session entitled “Building Awareness and Understanding of Result Reporting and the Use of the Monitoring System.” The session was delivered by Mrs. Ruamporn Kongchan and Acting Sub Lt. Akkarayut Rungsimantuchart, staff members of the RSPG–WU Coordination Center.

The session provided practical guidance on project result reporting, training participation, and the use of the Center’s online systems. Participants were introduced to two key digital platforms:

  1. Training Registration System: e-rspg.wu.ac.th
  2. Evaluation and Monitoring System: rd-rspg.wu.ac.th

These platforms are designed to support systematic project administration, facilitate training registration, and improve the efficiency of project evaluation and progress monitoring.

Mr. Wuttichai Phetthong, a staff member of the RSPG–WU Coordination Center, also provided technical assistance and guidance on system usage to help participants understand the digital workflow and reduce potential difficulties in submitting information and project reports.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion and question-and-answer session, allowing grant recipients and project teams to raise concerns, clarify procedures, and exchange views on project implementation.

This dialogue was intended to create a shared understanding among researchers, project teams, and the Coordination Center, while improving the quality, consistency, and accountability of FY2026 research and academic service projects.

Through this policy briefing, the RSPG–Walailak University Coordination Center aims to ensure that all funded projects are implemented in a more systematic and integrated manner, with clear links between research, academic services, schools, local communities, and resource conservation networks.

The initiative also supports the long-term goal of advancing research and academic services in accordance with the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, strengthening the sustainable conservation and responsible utilization of Thailand’s natural and local resources.
