Walailak University Coordination Center Joins Forces with Schools and Local Administrative Organizations to Sign MOU in Support of School Botanical Gardens and Local Resource Bases

On March 4, 2025, the Walailak University Coordination Center for the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative (RSPG), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwit Wutthisutthimethavee, Vice President of Walailak University and Director of the Coordination Center, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chatchai Kalyanapan, Acting Director of the Walailak University Botanic Park and Deputy Director of the Coordination Center, hosted a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony. The agreement aims to support the development of School Botanical Gardens and Local Resource Bases, with the participation of five educational institutions and one local administrative organization.

Objectives of the Collaboration

This initiative aligns with the principles of the RSPG Project, emphasizing the role of educational institutions and local administrative organizations as learning hubs for plant genetic conservation. The project promotes botanical education, local resource preservation, and indigenous cultural knowledge, with the Walailak University Coordination Center providing advisory support, budget allocations, and training activities for teachers, students, and local personnel.

The signing of this MOU marks a significant step in promoting environmental education and conservation awareness among youth under the Plant Genetic Conservation Project (RSPG). This collaboration will contribute to fostering sustainable natural resource conservation and instilling a sense of environmental responsibility in future generations.
